Kandiah (Arul) Arulmoli, Ph.D., PE, GE

Director and Principal

Dr. Arulmoli has more than 35 years of geotechnical earthquake engineering experience. He has been primarily involved in port and harbor projects in the Ports of Los Angeles-Long Beach area for the past two decades. Dr. Arulmoli has been selected to serve as Project Manager for three consecutive five-year contracts for the busiest container port complex (San Pedro Bay, California) in the U.S. His project experience includes geotechnical design services and reviews for container wharves, marine oil terminals, bridges, retaining walls, underwater bulkheads, backland expansions, buildings, cruise ship terminals, military facilities, grading and paving, dredging, dikes and landfills, and seismic studies.

Dr. Arulmoli earned his M.S. and Ph.D. at the University of California, Davis and is a registered Civil and Geotechnical Engineer in California. Dr. Arulmoli serves on several technical committees, including the ASCE Coasts, Oceans, Ports, and Rivers Institute (COPRI), the California Seismic Safety Commission (CSSC), and the ASCE committee for developing national seismic standards for design of piers and wharves (ASCE 61-14). He has authored more than 40 technical papers on geotechnical and earthquake engineering and been an invited speaker on numerous occasions.
